Pierre Peju’s “Girl from the Chartreuse” comes to Iranian bookstores

TEHRAN -- French philosopher and novelist Pierre Peju’s “The Girl from the Chartreuse” (“La Petite Chartreuse”) has recently been published in Persian in Tehran.
Raheleh Fazeli is the translator of the book, which was released by Morvarid Publications.
Péju’s profound and moving novel is about life, childhood, loneliness and learning to accept and understand our differences.
The story of the book is set on one damp afternoon when, while driving a vanload of books to his shop, Étienne Vollard strikes a little girl, Éva. Haunted by guilt, Vollard visits Éva in hospital and reads stories to her while she lies in a coma. He also meets Éva’s mother, Thérèse, a struggling single parent whose dream is to be far away and alone. When Éva awakes, the three of them are immediately aware that their lives are forever altered.
“The Girl from the Chartreuse” received great acclaim in France, and won the Prix du Livre Inter for 2003.
